While no longer an active board member or advisor, Jeff Heaton is recognized as the founder of the memorial and appreciated for his extraordinary courage and efforts to prompt public awareness and individual reflection on the tragic costs of war. His thoughtful intentions, and his years of dedication toward the making and maintaining of the memorial inspire us and will never be forgotten.
